SUBJECT: Travel to the Dominican Republic stable 09/23/2009
Despite the worldwide economic downturn, it had been reported that travel to the DR has remained relatively stable. Central Bank statistics indicate that there has been a decline in travel of only 2.29% from January to August 2009. By August, the monthly decline was only 1.14%. North America (the US and Canada) sends most tourists, with 55.7% of total arrivals. Europe sends 34.07%, as reported in Hoy.
